CHLORINE TABS

WHY USE TABS

Delivering chlorine in a constant way is a primary goal of all chlorine users.

Testing the water shows you where the chlorine level needs to be, consistently.

Adding chlorine in bulk form either liquid or powder gets you "roller coaster" results. The minute you add the bulk chlorine, it spikes and then starts to fall until the next time you add it.

Using tablets allows a steady erosion of the chlorine, evening out the the roller coaster to a flat line.

The same amount erodes daily so the testing is flat and consistent.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO ADD TABLETS?

A feeder is the preferred method. Feeders allow an adjustable flow of water through the feed chamber. This gives you far more control over how much chlorine is introduced daily.
Adding tabs to the skimmer allow for no adjustment.

TYPES OF TABLETS

There are basically two types of tabs, stabilized and unstabilized.

Stabilized tablets or trichlor are the only tablets that should be used in most feeders.

There is generally a disclaimer on unstabilized tablet containers telling you not to use them in a feeder.

Even if there is not, never put unstabilized tabs in any feeder that has been used with trichlor. It may literally explode.

Unstabilized tabs are specifically for use in a floater or the skimmer.

90% of all tabs sold are stabilized and they come in a multitude of brands and qualities.

Better tabs last longer and will eventually cost less as you will use less.

Cheaper tabs, many from China, dissolve rapidly and inevitably lead to an over stabilized pool
