Media filters (used to be called sand filters) are perhaps the easiest filters to maintain. Depending on the media chosen to fill the tank, they can clean up to as well as a cartridge filter.
Cartridge filters are the "green" choice for pool filtration. They use zero pool water for cleaning. In fact one of the easiest ways to clean the filters are to put them in a garbage bag and take them to your local car wash where they recycle the water.
Diatomaceous Earth Filters clean the water better than all other types. However, they require the most maintenance and addition of new DE every time you clean one.
Similar to your heart, a pool pump moves the water through the filtration system. If you turn off the pump, you stop the heart. A pool pump is often considered a "stealth energy user" by power companies and a poor designed or maintained system can waste large amounts of money.
CIRCULATION & FILTRATION
The pump and filter are the heartbeat of your pool.
They need to be properly sized and maintained for your pool to work well and efficiently.
For proper hydraulics, we match the pump, filter and plumbing sizes for a balance of performance and efficiency.
